Run Fansipan Cable Project with Capital of VND 4,400 billion

A 7-km cable system with total capital of VND 4,400 billion has been run in Sa Pa according to decree of Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai.

The investor of the project is Travel Service Co., Ltd. cable-Sapa Fansipan, a member of Sun Group (the company finished Ba Na cable project).

Fansipan cable system has length of 7 kilometers, start point at group 11B, Nguyen Chi Thanh street- Sa Pa town, over Muong Hoa valley, connect tourism places and up to the top of Fansipan. With total capital of VND 4,400 billion, this is the first 3- wire cable system in Asia area, and also the longest, highest, and most complicated 3- wire cable system in the world.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister assessed that it will be one of the highlights, modern and essential tourism products to Sapa in order to attract more tourists and promote the potential of economic strength in Lao Cai province.

It is expected that construction will be completed in late 2014 and put into use in 2015, then journey to conquer Fansipan peak will be only 15 minutes, with speeds 8m / s and maximum transport capacity of 2,000 passengers per hour.

The cable project in Sa Pa will be invested in two phases. Phase 1 is the cable system and complex of cultural tourism project, started in 2013 and completed in 2014, Phase 2 is a hotel system and entertainment. Objective of the project is to form a luxurious and modern tourist complex in Sa Pa and create more tourism products to Sa Pa.

It is determined as a key project, Lao Cai decided to establish a working group supported by the Director of the Department of Planning and Investment, and help investors implement procedures, handle problems arising during project implementation.

Acknowledge efforts and contributions of the investors in the project implementation brought into reality, the Deputy Prime Minister expects the investors, contractors, and local government ensure quality and project schedule. Especially in construction, they must minimize the impact on the environment, landscape and ecosystems of the Hoang Lien Son National Park, as well as the cultures of indigenous people.

It is expected that with the cable Fansipan in 2017, Sapa will welcome around 2 million visitors a year and by 2020, this figure increased to 3 million passengers.
